The situation
A founding team had validated demand for a marketplace that connects brands with creators for paid campaigns. They had no engineering capability to build it. The product had to work for both sides from day one: creators join and find brands running campaigns, brands join and find creators to engage. A marketplace where one side joins and sees nothing is not a marketplace.
What we did
The hard problem for a marketplace with two sides: both sides have to find value, or neither does. Solving that cold start, plus actually doing the matching well, plus running campaigns end to end, was the engineering.
We built it as two apps sharing one platform.
Brands get a campaign workflow: brief, budget, creator shortlist, approvals, delivery check, payout release.
Creators get a discovery and delivery workflow: find briefs, apply with pitch and sample, run accepted campaigns against the brand's deliverables, submit for approval, get paid.
A matching layer that pairs creators to briefs on more than follower count. Audience fit, past campaign performance, content style and category signal all feed the recommendation. The brand still picks. The system just makes the pick cheaper.
Campaign state tracked across both sides so neither has to chase the other for a status update.
Payments and payouts on a reconciled ledger. Brand pays into escrow when the campaign is approved, creator is paid on verified delivery, platform fee taken cleanly in the middle. The ledger closes against the payment processor rather than trusting webhooks.
AI used where it earns its keep: ranking creators against a brief, drafting campaign scopes from loose notes, flagging deliverables that do not match the brief for a human to review.
All of it on infrastructure that scales horizontally and costs close to nothing when idle.

The shape of it
Two to three engineers continuously from MVP through launch and into ongoing support.
The outcome
A production marketplace with brands running real campaigns, creators getting paid on verified delivery, and an architecture that did not need rebuilding when the second wave of features arrived.
